Who is Jesus?

Jesus Christ is not simply a teacher, prophet, or religious figure. He is the Son of God, God in the flesh, and the only Savior of sinners.

Jesus entered our world fully God and fully man. He lived the sinless life we could never live, perfectly obeyed the Father, proclaimed the Kingdom of God, performed miracles, and willingly went to the cross in the place of sinners. Three days later, He physically rose from the grave, defeating sin and death.

Jesus is not one way among many ways to God. He is the way, the truth, and the life. Everything we believe, preach, and do at Highpoint is centered on Him.

Is Jesus really God?

Yes. Scripture is unmistakably clear: Jesus is God.

John declares, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” That eternal Word became flesh and dwelt among us in the person of Jesus Christ.

Jesus forgave sins, received worship, exercised authority over creation, declared His unity with the Father, and ultimately conquered death. He is not a created being or merely a great spiritual leader. He is eternally God.

The Bible reveals one true God who eternally exists in three distinct Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each is fully God, yet there is one God.

What is the Bible, and can I trust it?

The Bible is more than an ancient religious book. It is the inspired, authoritative, and trustworthy Word of God.

Written through human authors under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, its 66 books tell one unified story: God created, humanity rebelled, Christ came to redeem sinners, and one day He will make all things new.

Scripture is our final authority for what we believe and how we live. Culture changes. Opinions change. Feelings change. God's Word does not.

That is why at Highpoint, we don't gather to hear man's ideas about life. We open our Bibles to hear what God has said.

Why did Jesus have to die?

Every one of us has sinned against a holy God, and Scripture teaches that the wages of sin is death. We cannot save ourselves through good works, religion, morality, or trying harder. Our greatest problem required a Savior.

At the cross, Jesus willingly stood in the place of sinners. He bore the judgment our sin deserved and paid the debt we could never pay. The innocent died for the guilty so that everyone who trusts in Him can be forgiven, justified, and reconciled to God.

But the cross was not the end. Jesus rose from the grave. The resurrection declares that sin has been paid for, death has been defeated, and Jesus Christ is Lord.

What does it mean to have faith in God?

Biblical faith is more than believing that God exists. It is trusting completely in Jesus Christ and what He has done for you.

We are not saved because we are good enough, religious enough, or because we have earned God's approval. Salvation is entirely by God's grace, received through faith in Christ.

Real faith rests in Jesus rather than ourselves. And when God saves us, He changes us. We begin following Christ, obeying His Word, turning from sin, and growing to become more like Him.

We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone — for the glory of God alone.

How can I start a relationship with Jesus?

The message of Jesus is not “be better.” It is repent and believe.

The Bible teaches that we have all sinned and cannot make ourselves right with God. But God, in His mercy, sent Jesus to live the life we could not live, die the death we deserved, and rise again so that sinners could be saved.

Salvation is not earned through church attendance, baptism, good works, or repeating the right prayer. It is God's gift of grace.

Turn from your sin and place your faith in Jesus Christ. Trust in His finished work rather than your own. Scripture promises, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

And when Christ saves you, you don't have to walk alone. Get planted in a local church, open God's Word, pray, be baptized, live in community with other believers, and begin learning what it means to follow Jesus.
